Rumor has is it that the East Side Locos began as a dance group and during the mid to late 1990s transformed into a criminal gang.

Identifiers

Like other Sureño groups, the East Side Locos exhibit the generic Sureño identifiers in various manners to denote their allegiance to Southern California. In addition to these identifiers, their tattoos usually display the initial ES, ESL, the phases “East Side” or “Loco” to indicate set affiliation.
