Hells Angels

The Hells Angels Motorcycle Club was formed in 1948 in Fontana, California. It is believed that the name “Hells Angels” was inspired by its historical use, during World War I and World War II, to refer to several military fighting units.

  • Created in response to the American Motorcyclist Association claiming that ninety-nine percent of motorcyclists are law abiding citizens while the other one percent are outlaws
  • Represented by a diamond shaped 1% patch

The Hells Angeles utilize a system of patches on leather or denim vests and jackets to denote their club membership. Although the specific meaning of each patch is not publicly known, the patches represent significant actions or beliefs of the club. The official colors of the Hells Angels are red lettering on a white background, and the official emblem of the Hells Angels is the Dead Head.

Will have three patches or rockers on their vest.

  • Top rocker is “Hells Angels”
  • Center rocker is the Death Head
  • Bottom rocker is state of affiliation, such as California or Washington

Will only have the lower rocker at the bottom of their vest.

Will have a license plate patch at the bottom of their vest that is the reverse colors of the club.

Will have support patches such as the number 81, which stands for the numberical position of H and A in the alphabet, 8143, which represents HADC, “Support your Local 81,” “Support your Local Red and White,” or “Support 81, Route 81″.

Puppet Clubs

Under the overall umbrella of the Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Club are numerous smaller clubs, which are available to do whatever the Hells Angels as of them. These are referred to as Puppet Clubs and are the closet support clubs for the Hells Angels. These “clubs” seek to earn the respect of the Hells Angels and due to this are likely to be bigger threat to law enforcement than Hells Angels’ members themselves. “Hangarounds” and “prospects” of the Hells Angels frequently originate as members of Puppet Clubs. The following are examples of Puppet Clubs:

  • Ancient Iron (CA)
  • Henchmen (CA)
  • O.G. Riderz
  • Original Kings
  • Top Hatters
  • Wreck ‘N Crew

Support Clubs

Puppet Clubs will attend all Hells Angels’ events and runs. The Hells Angels have given these clubs permission to establish themselves as “Motorcycle Clubs” and host their own events in the area, which has been claimed by the Hells Angels. The following is an example of a Support Club:
California Posse

Female Clubs

All female clubs are mostly made up of female associates, girlfriends, and wives of members of the Hells Angels and the other clubs. The following are examples of female clubs:
