Origin

The American Outlaws was created in the Idaho Prison System by inmates who did not want to join an Aryan gang because of the racist, white supremacy belief system.

Identifiers

The American Outlaws exhibits very few symbols to denote their gang affiliation. Their tattoos usually display the initials “AO,” the phrase “Outlaw” or “American Outlaw 208,” or iron crosses. See the gallery for examples of tattoos worn by members of American Outlaws.
